In a world where life can get incredibly busy, and unfortunately, where many face the challenge of putting food on the table, a simple, wholesome meal can make all the difference. Recent reports from Foodbank paint a clear picture: too many low-income households in Australia are struggling with food insecurity, facing the toughest times since the cost-of-living crisis began.
Right here in our own backyard, Hervey Bay, Sneha and Shami saw this challenge and recognized a heartfelt opportunity. In 2023, by using the kitchen of their own cafe, they launched Social Box. Their idea was simple yet powerful: to provide high-quality, FRESH meals to those who found it difficult to cook for themselves, especially our beloved elderly and people with disabilities. They understood that programs like the Home Care Package, NDIS and CHSP could help bridge the gap, making these essential meals accessible.

Social Box isn’t just a meal delivery service; it’s a mission born from a deep passion for fresh food and supporting our local community. We truly believe that healthy eating should be easy and accessible for everyone. That’s why we focus on delivering NOT FROZEN, delicious, fresh meals directly to your doorstep. While our meals arrive fresh and ready to enjoy, many of them can be frozen if that’s what works best for your schedule, offering you flexibility without compromising on quality.
We started as a small husband-and-wife team, pouring our hearts into every dish. It’s incredibly humbling to share that we’ve grown from just two people to a dedicated team of 10 wonderful staff, all working from our Hervey Bay kitchen. We proudly serve clients across Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Bundaberg, and all the lovely small towns in between, including those on NDIS, Home Care Packages (HCP), and Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP).
Our chefs are always busy creating a variety of dishes to delight your taste buds. We currently offer 36 unique menu items, and we’re excited to release 10 brand new options on the first week of August!

We believe in strengthening our community, which is why we source our ingredients from local businesses. It’s about supporting our neighbours and keeping our local economy strong.
What truly warms our hearts is being able to share. It’s quite common for us to have a few extra meals after our preparation process. In these situations, we choose not to take extra profit, but to gift these meals to those in need. This often means providing nourishing food to the homeless, the disadvantaged, or even those who are doing it tough. It’s a small way we can give back and truly make a difference where it matters most.
For us, Social Box is about so much more than just a business. There’s a deep joy in knowing we’re making a real difference in someone’s day, especially for those who need a little extra support. We truly believe that when you pour good into the world, it comes back to you, and that positive energy fuels our growth. It’s a bit like good Karma guiding our way.
Looking to the future, we’re excited about growing our impact even further. We’re planning to diversify into two more sectors in the near future, expanding how we can serve our community. We’re also passionately working towards establishing a charity wing solely focused on supporting the homeless, aiming to provide consistent, nutritious meals to those facing the toughest circumstances.
